With the rapid development of Civil Aviation Transportation, Civil Aviation to therequirements of airspace and flight efficiency increased day-by-day. At the present stage, thedesign of flight procedure protection area based on CAD software implementation, althoughmake up for the insufficient of long hand-painted phase cycle, but there are still inefficient,low degree of defect visualization. With the development of geographic informationtechnology and computer simulation technology, the requirements of three-dimensionalpresent of flight procedure protection area increasing with each passing day.In order to perfectthe existing procedure design work and Create new design method, Air Traffic Managementof Northeast and Civil Aviation Fight University of China united exploit a project whichnamed“3D simulation analysis of Instrument Flight Procedure”. This paper based on theresearch of second period of project; make theoretical research on the algorithm of 3Dprotection area.This paper combined the analysis method of 3D spatial data with international civilaviation organization Doc8168 files at first, established the theoretical basis of algorithmresearch. Secondly, made research of 3D protection area algorithm about conventionalprocedures and PBN procedures, and obtained 3D protection area algorithm model fromstraight tracks: set space polyhedron node data as the data element, established 3D primaryarea algorithm model based on shape function; set three prism as element model, selected theconical function of kernel function, made structure of secondary area algorithm model. Basedon the difference of turning protection of conventional procedures and PBN procedures,havemade research of turning protection of traditional procedures based on multi functioninterpolation method, meanwhile the wind spiral surface model on the basic of B splinesurface have been established. Finally, based on the 3D obstacle clearance algorithm model,in the light of specific procedure, base turn procedure, three-dimensional protecton areaalgorithm model of base turn have been completed, 3D obstacle clearance algorithm model ofspecific tracks have been realized. The algorithm research of this paper made a theoryfoundation of 3D obstacle clearance to second period of project, and also provided theoryguidance to different types of three-dimensional protection area algorithm model, improvedthe 3D visualization technology of instrument flight procedure design.
