Abstract:The course of analytical chemistry experiment is one of the most important basic courses for life science majors in agriculture and forestry universities, whose teaching quality will directly influence the mastery of the experimental skills and the cultivation of the professional qualities of the students in the relevant majors. Therefore, the teaching of analytical chemistry experiment plays an important role in the process of improving the teaching quality and is of great significance to the teaching reform of analytical chemistry experiment in such universities. By collecting a large number of data, and by doing a systematical research on the current situation and the existing problems of the contents, forms and evaluation system of analytical chemistry experiment in such universities domestically and overseas, this article has drawn two conclusions:(1) the contents of this course is too old to meet the requirements of the development of modern agriculture. So the existing syllabus should be updated, adding the combination of the actual testing of agroforestry in close connection with the experimental content;(2) corresponding foreign universities, especially Purdue University have adopted a teaching evaluation system of writing small papers in the training contents of this course, which has been proved to be quite effective in cultivating students’ practical ability and professionalism. This model is worthy of introduction to this field in China. This paper has also created four new analytical chemistry experiments through a deep research and summary of the foreign educational curricula and contents, combined with the reality of domestic agricultural and forestry universities. These can be used as important reference materials for teaching methods reform in such universities as well.The research of this subject contains six parts, and the main contents are summarized as follows:The first part describes the research background and objectives, points out the existing malpractice, and emphasizes the prominent features of analytical chemistry experiment in agriculture and forestry universities. The second part analyzes and evaluates the domestic condition, the existing situation and disadvantages in this field through investigations and studies. The third part analyzes and evaluates the overseas condition and the existing situation in this field through investigations and studies. The fourth part offers the specific ideas, methods and suggestions of reform and innovation in this field. The fifth part establishes four analytical chemistry experiments, carries out the specific reforming practice and realizes the condition and result of the practice. The sixth part summarizes the conclusions and results achieved by the subject research, reflects on the deficiencies of this study, and defines the direction of the future need for further research.
