Changbaishan National Geopark is located in Changbaishan National NatureReserve in eastern part of Jilin Province.It’s Geographic coordinates from longitude127degrees46’25" to128degrees12’42",41degrees north latitude46’48"to42degrees11’48". The area of the park is1008.00km2. Changbaishan Volcano Geoparktakes Quaternary volcano geological landform relics—the world famousChangbaishan volcano cone and peak landscape as the main body, the volcano lake,canyon, Fushilin (carbonized wood) scenic area as well as the original ancientvertical vegetation zones and other features of the landscape and good ecologicalenvironment as Tourism resources.It is a Comprehensive Geopark which is a set ofScientific investigation, science and education, tourism, leisure.It is also a Scientificresearch and Science Popularization ideal place of volcano geology, biology,ecological environment, climate and weather and other multidisciplinary.With the continuous development of GIS technology and database technology,theapplication of GIS technology in Geopark become more and more wide, geographicinformation system which has a powerful data management, spatial analysis, assistantdecision-making function played an irreplaceable important role in the construction ofGeopark to protect Geological heritage.Applicating GIS technology to build theGeopark geographic information system has become an inevitable job content inGeopark construction and development.Component GIS and WebGIS technology is two trends of GIS development,applicating component GIS and WebGIS technology to develop the Geoparkgeographic information system has become the research hotspot.In this paper,on thebasis of elaborating the component GIS and WebGIS technology concept,characteristics, means of realization in detail,we put forward a scheme which applingcomponent GIS and WebGIS technology to Changbaishan National Geoparkgeographic information system construction. On the basis of considering the system overall requirements, component GIS software decided to use ArcGIS Engine,WebGIS decided to use ArcGIS Server software.This paper on base of reviewing a large number of reference data,researched thecondition of GIS in application of Geopark and content of Geopark geographicinformation system construction, and introduced the Changbaishan National Geoparkoverview,on the basis of this,proposes the Changbaishan National Geoparkgeographic information system construction ideas.This article elaborate system design, method of the system and systemimplementation in detail.First,this paper based on the investigation and planning of Changbaishan NationalGeopark,proposed the overall plan of Changbaishan National Geopark geographicinformation system,has made detailed analysis and description for the systemdevelopment environment, architecture design, database design, function design,system interface design, on the basis of this, organizes the system spatial and attributedatabase, initially complete the Changbaishan National Geopark geographicinformation system, provides a primary platform for Changbaishan promotion ofinformation technology.Second,The system adopts B/S, C/S mixed mode, supports networks andstand-alone work way. C/S architecture main achieve information managementsystem development, using Visual Studio2005and ArcGIS Engine component. B/Sarchitecture Main achieve Geopark website development, using the ArcGIS Servercomponent. Database use SQL Server2005to manage data. Map vector data useArcGIS9.3ArcMap desktop software for data Collection, form the ShapeFile fileformat graphics data.Third,the system basicly realizes the information query, space analysis, informationmanagement, multimedia, information release and other functions, providesinformation support for the park ’s management, helps managers to make decisionand planning, improves decision-making’s democratization and scientific. At the sametime, the system can also be used to expand the propaganda of Changbaishan NationalGeopark, to demonstrate the geological tourism resources charm to the public,adaptting to the development of the Geopark.Finally, this paper summarizes the research achievements and understandings, andpoints out the system’s shortcomings.
