City park is the green space in the city with high natural degrees, which is also the important habitat for the birds. In recent years with the acceleration of urbanization, construction and the improvement of environmental requirements, city park birds is widely attented because it is very sensitive to thees environment changes. Clearly knowing the changes of city park birds will provide references for the city managers to make the city a more suitable living place. This study selected eight typical city park to study birds diversity and its relationship with habitats, and analyzed the spacial and temperal distribution dynamic of city park birds with the software ArcGIS9.3in Beijing.. The main results are listed as following.1. Totally185bird species of14orders,46families were recorded among which the Passeriformes is the largest with94species of25families, it can be seen that the Passeriformes is dominant in Beijing city parks.2. In the city parks, migrants and residents are the major groups which explains the Beijing city is in the important position for bird migration.3. Birds community diversity of city parks is closely related to the vertical structure of vegetation in the habitat.The more obvious vertical stratification of habitat vegetation, the bird community diversity index is much higher, otherwise the species diversity index is lower. The bird community evenness index and vegetation diversity is in inverse relation pattern. Conversely, the more varied the habitat vegetation is the bird community evenness index is low.4. The space distribution of city park birds showed that the city park birds changes with the garden habitat. In the habitat which contains tall trees, shrubs and sod, the bird density is the biggest, and in the habitat in which the ground vegetation is scarce or bare ground, the density of the birds is the minimum.5. The time dynamic of city park birds showed that the variation of the park bird community is obvious in spring and autumn for the migrating bird were large. They caused the bird community variation. In the summer most birds breed they are more concealed and less likely to be found, which caused the birds number minimum in the summer. In winter residents are the main part in the parks and activities in groups. According to the GIS dynamic map, the bird number in the winter is more than that in the summer.
