The end of2011, the first time in the history of China’s urban population exceeds therural population, the urbanization level of more than50%indicates that China has officiallyentered the ranks of urbanization. The process of urbanization accelerated development, urbanconstruction problems have become increasingly prominent. As an important infrastructurefor production and life of the modern city,the urban underground pipe network responsiblefor the transmission of information, energy, transportation and other infrastructure, is thematerial basis for survival and development of the city. However, with the rapid developmentof urban construction, the urban underground pipe network and ancillary facilities to theamount of information is growing, the urban underground pipe network management is stillnot keep up with the level of urban development. Through the use of modern means ofscience and technology such as GIS to improve the urban underground pipe networkmanagement level is an inevitable trend.The basis and premise for the establishment of urban underground pipe networkinformation management system is the underground pipe network data pre-processing anddatabase design. This paper first introduces the underground pipe network data acquisitionand processing of content and methods, and systematically expound the urban undergroundpipe network information collection and data coding.Second, the database design of the pipe network is the core content of the urbanunderground pipe network information management system development and design. Inconnection with the shortage of System design based on the file-relationships data model formost of the underground pipe network geographic information system analysis of thedeficiency in the network spatial analysis and combine the characteristics of the undergroundpipe network data, this paper use Object-oriented geographic data model-Geodatabase which is more suitable for the underground pipe network information management system for datamanagement and analysis model, to achieve integrated management of spatial data andattribute data of the underground pipe network, and completed the data structure design of theunderground pipe network.Finally, this paper discuss the overall design and the features modular design of the urbanunderground pipe network information management system, and use high-levelprogramming languages C#and ArcEngine component library to design the interface andfunction of the urban underground pipe network information management system on theMicrosoft Visual Studio2005platform, at the same time, the system can graphics operations,edit, query, statistics, visibility analysis, and print a report.
