Along with the development and maturity more and more in the employment in 2D GIS, we acknowledge the world around from the aspects of surface to spatial issues. So, the technology of 3D GIS is produced to solve the problem from the aspects of 3D in time.The production of 3D GIS is inevitable. On the one hand, 2D GIS has its own limitations, such as people can' t feel the nature really and directly, because the essence of 2D GIS is the system which transforms the real world into symbols. On the other hand, the research and development of 3D GIS rapidly is possible for many reasons, such as the maturity of data-model and data-structure, the development of graphics theory, database theory and other related computer technology, and the violent impulse of market requirements.Along with the appearance of " Cyber City " , underground pipe-net GIS has its own particularity — invisibility, and becomes one of the most important part of "Cyber City" . Many scholars now pay much more special in the research on establishment of underground pipe-net GIS.The paper have made the frame of underground pipe-net 3D GIS on the basis of abroad research about underground pipe-net GIS. And I bring forward optimum means for modeling in the background of the starting in 3D GIS, through employment mainly with traditional 2D GIS and with the help of 3D GIS. In this essay, I will explain the reason for employing this means from the sides of combination in theory and reality. In the end, we can be easily acquainted with this means ' s feasibility and practice effect through the instance revelation.The first three chapters in this essay introduces the basic theory and means of traditional GIS from its development to itsdefinition, speciality, function, the capture of spatial data and quality controlling. And through combining common technology in the employment of underground pipe-net 3D GIS and the 3D GIS ' s definition, speciality, function , The author build a model of underground pipe-net 3D GIS.The forth chapter introduces three system exploitation circumstance simply: ArcGIS,JBuilder and Java3D , and mainly expatiates the work mechanism , and sums up the basic moves through which we can realize 3D with Java3D and some importantmeans entity.The fifth chapter introduces the arithmetic research employed in this essay, and gives up the ways of realizingunits-canal-line entity, section protract and 3D-parameterunits-canal-line entity through combining the Java3D ' srealization mechanism.The sixth chapter narrates whole design and the dataorganization, and bring forth the reality outcome.The author sum up the trait, employment foreground andpractice meaning of the system in the end of this essay, andexplain the modeling means and the system' s limitation.
