In recent years, the study on the " New York Times" representative of the mainstream American media coverage on China is a hot topic,by which issue to know the tendency and strong discourse ability trying to explore Chinese media grasping of development situation of international communication, as well as mastering strategy of communication development under the circumstance of information globalization and to defend the initiative of our international discourse expression realizing the balance of global information transmission which plays an significance important role in building China's international image and developing of China's society.with multi-angle comprehensive interpretation, the article proved the relative theory from the two perspectives of the Orientalism and journalistic professionalism studied the relevant reports of2010Shanghai World Expo on" New York Times, the main body of the thesis is mainly composed of three parts, that is, using the method of frame analysis classified the text object and analyze how the New York Times representative western media influence the audience" how to think" and how to process and store the information attracting the audience to pay attention to the facts they set and ignoring others; using the method of content analysis analyzed and summarized all the texts and arrived the tendency and intent as well as interpreting the typical text content to discover the ideologies hidden behind the words. They complement each other and proof the theme together.By analyzing the characteristics and tendency of the New York Times'reports on Shanghai World Expo concluded that the United States mainstream media basically follows the news occupation creed they claim, while they will show the Orientalism dispositional characteristics when the reports comes with their own interests, which embodies the paradox of journalistic professionalism and Orientalism tendency. Therefore taking the New York Times for reference analyzed the cause of Chinese media weak discourse in overseas reporting and summarized and think how to master the strategies of strong discourse in the international communication.
