Two years shortly after 2008 Beijing Olympics, 2010 World Expo Shanghai,China is upcoming as another worldwide gala hosted in China. Nonetheless, the World Expo has spanned over one and a half centuries before its landing on China, a history-held as well as a vigorous nation. Back in the past striking years of the World Expo, on which we found little academic attention paid from the world of communications, and even less from Chinese academia in particular.Thesis consists of four parts, and the first section serves the purpose of clarifying as well as defining some terms in support of the subsequent research; In the second chapter, it is to articulate the current situation home and abroad about research on the subject of Expo and media. The core of the thesis lays in the third chapter, done in methods of comparison and quantitative research; the conclusion part is to generalize the entire passage.Under the veil of 2010 World Expo Shanghai, China, Tencent Expo Channel and six mainstream newspapers in Shanghai are targeted typically as Chinese commercially-run online news media and traditional newspaper separately, by which, research would be carried out on their one-year-long pre-accounts on Expo in methods of comparison and quantitative research. In so doing, we try to gain information on their communication traits and competition they had in the year-long Expo reporting-related program before it is formally staged on May 1st, 2010.
