As a result of the electromagnetic wave in the wireless channel influenced by a lot of factors, the wireless channel unlike cable channels. They are not fixed and predictable. While the radio propagation characteristics in wireless network research, planning and design has a very important role. In order to provide a basis to planning and design of communication system, we often establish universal mathematical model through theoretical analysis and measured by statistical analysis. We can estimate the propagation loss and other related transmission parameters with these models. According to the different environment we choose different model. In this paper, several commonly used radio wave propagation prediction model are researched and analyzed. I select two suitable models for Yunnan air radio monitoring project. They are Egli model and Okumura-Hata model. The data collected in the project is analyzed and simulated with MATLAB software. I compare the Egli model, the Okumura-Hata model and the real data at the mobile station height of50m and150m. It can be drawn that the two prediction models' curves almost coincide at the height of50m, but the Egli model curve and the measured data curve are closer, so this model is willing to comply with the actual situation. When the height of the mobile station is150m, Egli model curve is obviously closer to the measured data curve. Therefore, the Egli model is better. After this two height segment comparison, I select the Egli model for the prediction model of the air radio monitoring project.Since Egli model does not consider the coverage density of buildings and this project is taken in Kunming where there is a lot of buildings, we should make an buildings coverage amendment on the Egli model. This is the innovation of this paper. When the height of the Mobile station is50m, the amended Egli model is closer to the measured curves than before. So the buildings cover factor may be effective in this case. However, when the height is150m, the revised model curve is further to the measured curve, the correction factor may not play a role. Therefore, this factor of the city building coverage may vary from height to height.
