Latex for construction is the most important material of emulsion and paint, the annual output of the product all over the world is about several ten millions tons, the major manufacturers are Rohm and Haas, BASF, Union Carbide, Nippon and ICI etc. They have accumulated gobs of technology in production process, and introduced automatic production model, and led the company to the direction of large-scale and automatic production campaign. How to guarantee the latex product quality as far as possible in using automation system to control the production process becomes the key consideration of saving manual and administrative costs to all the enterprises.In order to occupy the market with the advantage of the prices and quality in the intense market competition, The Batfu Company developed a new concept of promoting the degree of automation in the working field at the end of the 2009. They have determined the automation solution of the company after researching the other similar chemical enterprises that have realized the process of automation control. At first, we attempt to develop a set of control system rely on our own technology; after that, we carry out the automation improvement of the other reactors step by step.The main purpose of the paper is:1,Deeply analyzing all the process in the manual mode, and searching the feasibility of Automatic Control Method. This paper investigates all the key points of the procedures, such as the feeding accuracy, the speed of titration, the speed of agitation, and the temperature of the reactor, and divides them into several different modules. After that, we can find out the solutions one by one.2,Analyzing the corresponding technical characteristic of the frequency converter in the manual production process. This paper investigates plenty of reference materials of the frequency converter, and finds out all the available Control Method to the inverter, and confirms how to use them in the new control system.3,Selecting the corresponding automatic valves. This paper investigates a great deal of technical information of the valves, and contrasts the difference of them, and confirms the type of the valves. The selecting valves must have seeral important technical characteristic, such as anti-explosion, control accuracy, and the space of the field Installation.4,Selecting the the most suitable metering device. This paper investigates a mass of information about weighing, and analyses the difference among them, and selects three sets to weigh the weight of the emulsification reactor and the auxiliary material jar. The selectted devices can meet the need of the experimental control system and the final control system to the whole workshop.5,Confirming the communication method among the several different functional module. This paper contrasts three kinds of communication methods, and determines the best one in the control system. All the communication contents in the system includes the communication between the PLC and the weighing controller, and the communication between the PLC and the upper PC. The communication method between the PLC and the weighing controller is the Profibus-DP BUS. The communication between the PLC and upper PC is RS232 serial port.6,Finishing the design of the electrocircuit and programme, and debugging the whole control system on the spot, and then successfully accomplishing the developing subject.
