The Design Of Profibus-dp Slave Station Communication Controller Based On Fpga

PROFIBUS is an international, open, manufacturer independent fieldbus protocol standard. As a branch of PROFIBUS, PROFIBUS-DP is the most widespread technologies in industrial automation control field with its mature, real-time reliability and stability. For the reason of that, we are in desperate need to develop PROFIBUS-DP Slave Communication Controller of own intelligent property and break down the technological monopolization."Development of PROFIBUS-DP intelligent slave station" project of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shenyang Institute of Automation serves as the academic background of this paper. After the in-depth study through the PROFIBUS-DP protocol and analysis of the PROFIBUS-DP system, a protocol framework of PROFIBUS-DP is made.A new technological solution is made to achieve PROFIBUS-DP slave communication controller by using FPGA devices. According to the ASIC structure of the protocol, a model of PROFIBUS-DP slave station communication controller is made based on FPGA.The module structure of PROFIBUS-DP slave station communication controller is designed, and a plan is given on how to realize the logic function of each module of the PROFIBUS-DP slave station communication controller through Verilog hardware description language. Then Verilog hardware description language programs are setup and testbench is designed to simulate all the modules.After downloading the program data into the FPGA device which is now called communication controller, this slave station is added to the practical bus system. Eventually, a PROFICUS-DP communication controller IP core with our own intellectual property right is fulfilled. Also, a complete PROFIBUS-DP slave station is established. This could be a tentative research for the independent design of PROFIBUS-DP communication ASIC of our country.
