At present, there are only a few manufacturers to do the intelligent analysis instruments for various reasons in our country. There is few manufacture which could achieve the communication among the intelligent analysis instruments. This topic comes from the project called"The common framework for intelligent analysis instruments system". The goal of the project is to design a common structure which could measure and analyze various gases through accessing different sensors. The project is very innovative, and its technical norm has reached or exceeded the relevant international standard requirements.There are communication interfaces of the intelligent instruments generally. One instrument could generate a measurement system with other instruments or a PC to complete the more complex tests task through the interfaces. At present, most intelligent instruments are controled by a single chip, and few of them could communicate with each other. Because of that, this design is mainly focus on two sides. We could achieve communication among several different modules which are controled by different microcomputers through the I2C (Inter—Integrated Circuit) bus within the instruments. And we could realize communication among the instruments or between the instrument and the PC through the RS232/RS485 bus. The Single-Chips we use are the C8051F series of high-speed microcontroller launched by the Silicon Labs. The commands of the C8051F series microcomputers are compatible with the 80C51 family microcontrollers, but they increase much more resources than the latter, thus they provide a great convenience for the development of embedded systems.There are four parts of this paper. The first part describes the background to the study and the theoretical knowledge; the second part introduces the system's overall design and the communication design through the RS232/RS485 bus, at the same time, it also presents some basic content of the I2C bus; the third section focuses on the communication design about the C8051F MCU through the I2C bus; and the last part introduces the hardware and software anti-interference technology to improve the reliability of the system and there are also the analsis of the experimental results.
