Strategic Analysis On Mobile Newspaper In Content Design And Selection In The Era Of The 3G

On January 27th,2009, China entered the era of 3G(3rd Generation mobile telecommunications).3G is a generation of standards for mobile phones and mobile telecommunication service fulfilling the International Mobile Telecommucations-2000 specifications by the International Telecommunication Union. Application services include wide-area wireless voice telephone, mobile Internet access, video calls and mobile TV, all in a mobile environment.3G technology also has brought about more opportunities for the development of the Mobile Newspaper in China.Currently, Mobile Newspaper in China can be seen in three ways, they are SMS (Short Message Sevice), MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) and WAP (Wireless Application Protocol). The MMS wins most popularity amongst all, however, it still has some problems like the content of the mobile newspaper are very similar to each other, the edit team behind the mobile newspaper are lack of professionalism, the ways of making profits are too simple etc. The appearance of 3G technology has solved technological problems that the Mobile Newspapers had to some extend. And because of the fact that 3G technology highly supports mobile Internet access, audience are more likely to read mobile newspaper through 3G website instead. Plus, In order to obtain further and better development, the content of the Mobile Newspaper plays the most important role. In this thesis,3G technology and the Mobile Newspaper will be the main research objects. Firstly I will give a general idea on what kind of opportunities and challenges the 3G technology has brought to the Mobile Newspaper industry. Then I will discuss specifically on the content design and the content selection of the MMS Mobile Newspaper, and I will predict its future growth as well. Thirdly, focus on the content selection and content design again. I will make relevant strategies for the development of the new 3G Mobile Newspaper. At last, there will be a preview on the further development of the Mobile Newspaper content selection. Hopefully my research could make an individual contribution to the Mobile Newspaper industry.
