In the background of triple play, in order to meet market demand and to adapt to the new television technology, it is need to transform the two-way user access transformation of the whole network for a cable television network. The popular program of bi-directional network reconstruction is GPON + EOC.The EOC (Ethernet over Coax) refers to the Ethernet signal is transmitted in coaxial cable. The basic approach is the Ethernet signal modulated and transported in a coaxial cable. SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol SNMP) is the most widely used network management protocols in the current TCP/IP network. The SNMP protocol can be used to manage the EOC coaxial network, monitoring and control the equipment and networkThis thesis is to develop SNMP Agent for network management of" the low frequency of EOC system based on the Homeplug AV ". NET-SNMP package can set up a basic agent side, but in order to achieve the coaxial network management, SNMP agent need to extend. This thesis proposes a technical solution for SNMP agent side extension, and then successful put the Broadcasting and Television Corporation national standard module into the NET-SNMP package to achieve the agency side extension. The expansion module is MIB file format, but it need to put C language module into the NET-SNMP package modules in actually, so the MIB module must be wrote to the C language module. It is cumbersome, heavy workload, long cycle, with manually writing a C language module. This thesis presents an idea that using mib2c tools change the MIB module into C language modules, which solve many drawbacks.Trap is the asynchronous reporting mechanisms from the agent to management. In order to achieve the agent sends a custom Trap message, we must expand on Trap. This thesis provides a learning Trap, which can learn the management IP address. When management updates IP address, the agent side can also update the address list, and then the alarm information will be sent to the management side timely.The EOC system is a large-scale software system。The SNMP agent in the interaction layer, communicate with management by the way of sharing files. This thesis designs two structures to describe the real-time information and non-real-time information of the MIB. Finally, this thesis realizes Trap and Snmpset Communicate with the management layer.
