Common social memory is the premise of a common psychological identity, which is an important political resource seized by political authority as a way of identifying and maintaining the legitimacy of the regime. May4th movement has been regarded as the beginning of China New Democratic Revolution, therefore, political authority make use of the social memory of this milestone to gain recognition by shaping it towards its interests. The discourse frame of mass media, the mouthpiece of the government, plays an irreplaceable role in the process of constructing common social memory. Take the May4th Movement as an example, by analyzing People's Daily reports, the thesis try to dig out that how media discourse frame changes, how the political authority construct and shape social memory by media discourse frame, and the resistance of civil power in the carving of social memory.
