Virtual Reality occurs in recent years as a high technology about advanced computer man-machine interface, which emphasizes interaction, immersion and conception, the immersive user experience can not be reached by other techniques. It is a synthetic application which combines computer network technology, computer graphics, multi-sensor technique, artificial intelligence and so on.With the development of computer technology, virtual reality technology has been entered our lives from the military, medical, aerospace and other high-end fields. As an important application area of virtual reality technology, virtual campus has gradually been valued by many domestic colleges and universities. Supported by nation and relevant departments, many domestic colleges and university have made related research and gained quite a lot progress. Virtual campus plays an important role in the three-dimensional virtual browsing, propaganda and exhibition, the web-based teaching and management, the campus overall planning, the optimizing deployment of school resources, etc. As the spread of digitization and mobile terminal, the practical technology of Palm Virtual Campus, which components such as browsing, exchanging, teaching, planning, management,and so on, will be a new developing trend. I was responsible for the development of three-dimensional virtual campus of Shijiazhuang Tiedao University, and had researched the key technologies of three-dimension scene based on virtual reality, according to project practice with document research and case analysis. And the content has been divided into seven parts.Chapter 1 is the preface of this thesis. The background, purpose, meaning on the status of virtual reality and virtual campus home and abroad are described. And the content, methods and organizational structure of this thesis are also introduced.In Chapter 2, the preparation of virtual campus project before exploitation is expounded. Research emphasis is the following three points. First is overall design projective and production process. Second is software and hardware development environment configuration. Third is drawings and data of virtual campus for planning and management. In Chapter 3 the commonly used three-dimensional modeling approaches in virtual reality field are described. And combined with an instance of the virtual campus, the usage of modeling approach methods is also analyzed.In Chapter 4, performance methods of plants in three-dimensional scene are described. Then combined with an instance of the virtual campus, the performance methods for commonly used plants are expounded.In Chapter 5, with instance the four kinds of common mapping are briefly explained in the application of virtual campus, and the theoretical knowledge of lighting layout is introduced. Then combined with the actual situation in the campus, the considerations about three-dimensional scene lighting layout are analyzed.In Chapter 6, the significance of the model optimization in virtual campus is described. Through analyzing the case of optimizing virtual campus model, the practical application of various optimizing methods is explained.In the final chapter conclusion and prospect, the whole issue of the research content is summed up. And future work on virtual campus, application outlook and development prospects are viewed.
