Design Of SDI Video Format Conversion System Based On FPGA

With the development of science and technology, the television and computer technology have been the main method of modern information dissemination and information processing. As the digital television equipments are being greatly applied, all kinds of digital video interface are appeared; one of them is the SDI (Serial Digital Interface). But it is not paid enough attention to the interconnecting of different equipment on the market, and it is seldom seen such conversion devices between different interfaces. To satisfy the real engineering demand, equipment that converts SDI to other interfaces is needed.A solution of SDI video interface conversion system based on FPGA is introduced in detail in this paper, which had the function of converting SDI to Camera Link and CVBS video interface. The SDI video signal is processed by cable equalizing, data retiming and video decoding circuit through chip CLC014, CLC016, CLC011, and then the ITU-R BT.656 standard video signal is obtained. Xilinx corporation's FPGA XC3S250E is applied, after BT.656 decoding, asynchronous FIFO, image frame storage, Camera Link timing generating module, the signal is converted from TTL/CMOS to LVDS level by chip DS90CR285.To restrain the noise, image preprocessing module is designed. Chip ADV7176A, which is configured through I2C bus, is applied to encode the video signal which has been decoded, then the PAL format CVBS video signal can be obtained.The main control chip in this thesis is implemented by FPGA, which improves the speed of digital interface. Meanwhile, the system can be more flexible, and the updating and maintaining can be easier. The value of the system is also promoted.
