With the development of computer, multimedia and high-speed communication technology, high-quality digital video display and acquisition solutions have got a great promotion no matter in consumer electronics, digital broadcasting, or industry monitoring field. Nowadays, more and more terminal display devices have utilized the digital interface technology. SDI(Serial Digital Interface) refers to a family of video interfaces standard used for transmitting uncompressed digital component video, and it is the most widely used video transmission interfaces in digital broadcast studio. As two typical types of SDI, SD-SDI(Standard Definition-SDI) and HD-SDI(High Definition-SDI) are usually applied to non-linear editing systems, video servers, virtual studio, digital switching matrix and other fields.Based on the analysis of serial digital interface's standard and its working principle, the paper gives a design of SDI video interface conversion system, which implements the video conversion between SD-SDI and Camera Link, VGA and PAL interface. Also, it gives an image acquisition solution with PCI bus on SD-SDI video. In the hardware, based on the SDI video encoder and decoder, it uses the high-performance FPGA, XC2V4000FFG1152AGT of Xilinx Vertex-II family, to complete the whole video processing function of encoding and decoding control, color space conversion, interlacing and deinterlacing, color image white balance, gray stretching, image scaling and so on. Meanwhile, under the Windows XP platform, it designed the PCI bus driver program with the tool of DriverStudio and developed the SDI video acquisition system, which could capture the SDI video to the computer through PCI bus. On the computer, it completes the video processing of image filtering, deinterlacing and real-time display. With much flexibility, multifunction, high integration and the stable performance, the whole system has completed a high-quality SDI video processing solution and could meet the practical use in industry environment.
