Imaging Science is a very important part of modern science. Since the invention of computer, along with the high rapid development of computer structure, properties and algorithm,Imaging Science has been developing so quickly as well. Meanwhile, Imaging Science are playing a critical role in many fields, such as industry, medicine, electronics, communications, meteorology and so on. Recently, in all branches of Imaging Science, spatial graphics technology is becoming more and more significant. This paper mainly describes a system that implements identification and measurement of spatial graphics. This paper presents a kind of embedded image identification and measurement system based on FPGA and ARM. Xilinx Co. Sparatan 3E series'XC3S500E are selected. The whole system includes five parts, Image Acquisition module, FPGA controller. Image storage module, Network driving module and computer interface.Image Acquisition module is in charge of the implement of Image Acquisition. Image storage module is used to finish the design of the bus switch timing between two pieces of SRAM. Network driving module is designed to drive DM9000, and complete image data transmission on Local Area Network. FPGA controller is the core of the whole system. Driving CMOS image sensor, finishing the communication with ARM11 in the protocol of SPI, implementing image processing and measurement algorithm are all completed in FPGA controller. Image processing technology is mainly used to finish binarization, median filtering and edge detection. Then, final results will be acquired through corner coordinates extraction algorithm and image measurement algorithm. Computer interface is designed in the use of VC++6.0 to show the image and the final results.
