Today's society is a media society, and the contact media has become an essential part of life. Some will say that media activities can be called the fourth meal besides three normal meals and people all live conscious or consciously in a media net. It is changing people's life, and is influencing people's life style and the concept of value. To some extent, the mass media has become a tool which could affect national stability and social development. In the media society, media brings in convenience and rich values, but is it making world perfect? However, the fact is proved differently from it is supposed to be: as the change of the mass media market and the rising of its position in audience, the competition is more and more fierce. Such a fierce competition unavoidably leads to dirty manipulation, lack of ethics, and finally a sea of criticism. The chaos includes fake news, invasion of privacy and copyright, advertising even in news, the paid news, the popular human search, the violent netizenship and so on. Scholars and some people in the industry have already written articles to criticize the lack of ethic and morality. Moreover, the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television has been standardizing the mass media market. The Chinese mass media lacks ethics, which destroys its public trust, and has caused many adverse effects, especially to teenagers. Therefore the construction of mass media ethics is imminent. Therefore we have to go back to the social responsibility theory proposed in the early 20th century, and think about the significance of the classical theory.
