Based on the theory of Media Spectacle, this paper presents an analysis of a TV dating show which led a new trend of TV style in 2010 ----"You Are the One",and puts the study under the context of media convergence. Through the research on the TV program "You Are the One", this paper attempts to explore how the television produces media spectacle and whether there are some strategies, and provide a new perspective in media competition study by the way .Firstly, this paper rethinks the theory of Media Spectacle systematically on the basis of Guy Debord's "Spectacle Society" theory and Douglas Kellner's "Media Spectacle" theory.Reference to relevant research ,the author tries to get more about the phenomenon of media spectacle ,such as the content as well as the characteristics of it and so on. What ' s more, this report points out the core features of the media spectacle, consisting of the shocked feeling caused by media visual presentation and the multiplication or dramatizing of narrative content and narrative strategies.Thereby, this report investigates the connection between TV and media spectacle ,and discovered that TV is not only the showcase of spectacle but also the creator of it,and furthermore the introduction of "reality TV " precisely fits the characteristics of spectacle of TV.Undoubtedly ,there are some distinctive characteristics of spectacle in the TV program"You Are the One".Therefore,this paper studys the "You Are the One" from the visual presentation,multiple aspects of the text meaning to the strategies of spectacle producing respectively and found that the TV program has created a brilliant "TV Spectacle" with the help of "Tag strategy", the dramatic context setting and all media interaction.Finally, this paper reflects on the positive and negative effects of the media spectacle and suggests that the media should go beyond the spectacle by taking the initiative to assume social responsibility.
