In 1970s, agenda-setting theory was first proposed. It covers a common and effective way that how mass media affect the society, and was deemed as one of the leading theories in the field of communication. However, with the rise and vigorous development of Internet, due to its openness, interactivity, instantaneity and other characteristics, setting agenda on the Internet is available to the public. Network consensus and even public opinion are established via wide spread of media. Network is playing a more and more prominent role in guiding public opinion, and it is also gradually becoming a vital means for people to express themselves. In this case, traditional agenda-setting theory is facing strong challenges, showing a number of new features. In this article, based on the perspective of agenda-setting theory, we will analysis the reality of the spread of media agenda setting, the respective advantages and challenges of traditional media and network media under the context of domestic Internet dissemination, try to figure out the outlet and the direction of traditional agenda-setting under current domestic cyberspace.
