High speed and large memory processors have come out,the chip processingspeed and memory expansion capability is also improving along with rapiddevelopment of technology and materials. The entirely-new requirements are come upfor the portable system in power supply system's performance, consumption,protection, IC size, and so on. The system engineer must comprehend the powerdissipation, the power condition and related time sequence of every circuitcomponents in order to optimize system power.First,common smartphone system architecture and its operation system currentlyin the market have been introduced in this paper,then ARM plus DSP Multi-coresystem architecture in the Qualcomm MSM7X27platform is mainly introduced onwhich integrating modem processor and application processor together in onechip,and meanwhile supporting GSM,WCDMA,CDMA2000various types ofcommunication mode;It can archive dual-mode function of GSM/WCDMA orGSM/CDMA on one hareware platform by collocating appropriate RF transceiverwithout adding extra modem processor.Then taking the power supply managementsystem of the MSM7X27as the starting point, analyzing how to distribut the powersupply and optimize the power dissipation of the system in the power supplymanagement mode from hardware framework and software system respectively, andeffectively promoting the endurance of the battery in using video and audio playingfunction and other kinds of applycaiton.Final, the common peripheral designguidelines in the smartphone and the designs and application of the wireless accessmodule are introduced.The debuged results and the statistical measuring data of every part in the systemhave proved the feasibility of this digital dual-mode smartphone design scheme.
