With the use of multiple technologies of computer graphics, multimedia,human-computer interaction, networking, three-dimensional display and simulation (named asVirtual Reality in general), Virtual Museum presents traditional cultural heritages. VirtualReality (VR), also known as "Virtual Reality Technology", "virtual environment","cyberspace", etc., is a computer-based technology which uses the computer special input andoutput equipment to create a " looks like the real, sounds like the real, feels like the real, smells like the real and tastes like the real" multi-sensory three-dimensional virtual world.Using Virtual reality technology to establish a virtual museum is to provide a guarantee toretain the historical and cultural heritage and carry them forward .And it brings people whohave experienced in the virtual museum tour the brand new feelings. However,three-dimensional modeling techniques and interactive technology applications in the virtualmuseum exhibits, plays a very important role, is the virtual museum built. Currently, theworld's major museums all have the advantage of the base text, picture, video and interactivemedia held a variety of virtual exhibitions, which for our three-dimensional modelingtechniques and interactive technology research provides a good platform. This paper started with the virtual reality system which applied the virtual reality to thevirtual museum. It expounded the whole process and the theoretical basis of the establishmentof the virtual museum. This virtual museum reappeared some Shikumen and excellenthistorical buildings which has passed out of existence through virtual three-dimensionalcomputer modeling techniques. It will make people experience the development of theShikumen buildings in a virtual world and at the same time it will present the decorativefeatures of the building. The whole cultural heritage will be widely disseminated by choosingthe material and the location of furnitures. The main content of this thesis and researchinclude: (1)Virtual Museum of art-related theoretical analysis and design elements: researchin art theory, starting from the aesthetics of the building, the layout of Shikumenvirtual museum, the first door and windows and other design principles, thenShikumen Virtual Museum the overall design. Meanwhile, inside the museumexhibits, the project team access to a large number of historical books, will bedifficult to find many historical relics have been presented in the virtual museum.(2)Virtual Museum of theoretical support and modeling techniques to solvetechnical problems: three-dimensional model and the model of integration, the use ofLOD techniques for handling patches, in order to reduce the amount of computing tospeed up the whole system operation speed, so as to achieve system real-time effects.Textures production, the use of historical data, photo and graphic software to collectpictures and other ways to draw textures of production, so as to achieve authenticityand convenience.Research and implementation of interactive virtual museum: avirtual platform using Quest3D interactive virtual museum established to work onthe building components and internal virtual museum exhibits to a virtual platformapproach and design methodology, in order to achieve cross-platform operationreal-time and fluency.(3)The implementation of virtual museum Shikumen feedback Study: Using eyetracking information gathering tool, after the establishment of virtual museumsShikumen implementation of information collection and feedback, the virtualmuseum designed to identify strengths and weaknesses department, provide atheoretical basis for the follow-up.
