As the development of Network Exchange technology and the constant expansion of Network, in order to balance the exchange network load balance, effectively avoid the network storm and greatly improve the efficiency of the exchange network, there is a huge challenge to switches which participate in the network interactive. In recent years, VLAN Technology and Spanning Tree Protocol give a new impetus to the development of Network switches. MVRP (Multiple VLAN Registration Protocol) can dynamically maintain the VLAN information of the switches and MSTP (Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol) can make several vlan mapped to a spanning tree instance, which has a good effect on load sharing of VLAN data.The background of this thesis is based on a implementation of MVRP on a platform of a Communication Corporation Limited. It outlines the development of Ethernet, and explictly elaborates the development and core algorithm of MSTP. As MVRP is running based on MRP (Multiple Attribute Registration Protocol), this thesis also analyzes the working principle and process of MRP, as well as the implement the MRP. Based on the MSTI of MSTP, MVRP can provide the network exchange a better load balance, so the final part of the thesis presents the implementation of MVRP based on the MSTI of MSTP and the test of various network. MRP is quite difficult to comprehend, so the understanding of MRP is important to the implementation of MVRP. Therefore, in this thesis the composition of MRP agreement, the message structures, the working mechanism of state machine and timer have been explictly analyzed and explained. And moreover, this thesis presents the process of implementing MVRP base on the MSTI. Finally, the Research and Implementation of this thesis are successfully completed.
