The Study On MVRP Protocol And Its Implementation In Distributed Switch

With the rapid development of Ethernet technology, virtual LAN (VLAN) technology has become part of the mainstream LAN solutions. In the virtual LAN whose members change frequently, MVRP protocol can make the VLAN configuration spread automatically. MVRP protocol is an application protocol that works on the basis of MRP protocol, the dynamic transmission and maintenance of VLAN is achieved on the registration mechanism provided by MRP protocol.Refering to IEEE 802.1Q standards, combined with research and development of distributed Ethernet switch in a communication technology company, the author systematically analyzed the characteristics of MRP protocol framework, studied the mechanism of MVRP protocol in depth, described the implementation of MVRP protocol in the centralised condition, and discussed the implementation of MVRP protocol in distributed switch emphatically.MVRP protocol is an application that's based on the MRP protocol, in this paper, firstly the framework and working principle of MRP protocol is analyisied in detail, the working process of MVRP protocol is studied deeply. Then, in the centralised condition, the configuration commands, task process, data structions and function interface is designed. At last, based on the special requests of MVRP protocol under distributed condition, the design and implementation of hot backup and IPC communication is discussed.
