With the development of the technology, especially the developments of the mechanical industry, various kinds of large-scale industrial equipment are widely used in people's production and life. In general, large-scale industrial equipments are mostly open-air operations, the working environments is very poor. The lack of protective measures and effect by the blowing rain, sunshine and dust, make the equipments breakdown frequently. Therefore, to develop a remote monitoring system, which can monitor the working conditions of the construction site effectively and ensure equipments working reliably, have become a hotspot of engineers.To solve these problems, after an investigation of the status of current monitoring systems of major equipments and existing technology, including condition monitoring technology, network communication technology and database technology, we designed a large-scale remote monitoring system. The system is based on the GPRS mobile communication network, to collect and monitor the remote data for the large-scale industrial equipment. With the advantage of wireless, remote transmission, good real-time and reliability, and low cost, GPRS dominate in the existing data transmission mode. The system can realize a timely warning, real-time data acquisition and data transmission, enable users to easily monitor the running state of large-scale industrial technology to optimize the mechanical operation mode. The system also can alarm immediately when the abnormal operating status occurred. It can make construction personnel to solve problem in time, and ensure the safe operation of machinery.The system constituted by three parts:the underlying data acquisition and control module, GPRS wireless communication section and the monitoring center. The underlying data acquisition and control module based on DSP to complete the collection of data, processing and system control. GPRS wireless communication module realizes the wireless transmission of data. Monitoring center includes PC interface development and data communication.The equipment surveillance system, which discussed in the paper can remote condition monitoring of equipment. It is convenient for equipment monitoring personnel to handle operations, which provide the basis for the overall safety and security of the monitoring system of the large-scale equipment. The result of this research is versatility, system migration to modify the characteristics of small volume, and good application prospect.
