In industrial production and social life, remote monitoring is required in many situations. It has many advantages such as suitable for high-risk environment, unattended operation, convenience and so on, which has been widely used in applications. The proposed sheme is applied to residential sewage treatment. It can deal with zhe problem that the number of onsite processing is large and the distribution is dispersed, and get the accurate real-time field data.This dissertation proposes a design of remote monitoring system based on GPRS. Firstly, depending on the function requirements of the system, the system performance is analyzed and the total design is presented. The solution has three functions including data detection and collection, data transmission and remote control. Secondly, the software and hardware design is described. In hardware design, the design combining AVR MCU and GPRS module is adopted, including MCU peripheral circuits, onsite physical acquisition circuit, control and output circuit and communication module circuit. The design of software part includes monitoring center and monitoring unit. For monitoring center, the monitoring program design is proposed and the frame format of transmitted data is defined. The software design for monitoring unit includes PC software for setting parametres, the configuration for GPRS module, the processing and analysis of onsite information data, remote controlling program, data preservation and secondary retransmission when a communication failure accurred and so on. In addition, this dissertation also focuses on system reliability, and the performance of every module is tested.The prototype designed in this sheme has been through zhe test and been put into use. The system scheme designed by this dissertation has been tested in practical application scene and the test results demonstrate that the scheme can implement remote monitoring effectively with lower cost, smaller volume and stable performance.
