In order to maintain the sustainable development of forestry production, forest pests' species, the distribution characteristics and their changing trend must be real-time monitored andforecasted. The prevention and control strategies should be formed. In view of the rapiddevelopment of wireless sensor network and the Internet of Things, as well as the requirement ofpests forecast, to realize intelligent protecting forest's system scheme and improve the timelinessand accuracy of forest pests forecast, a research of intelligent sensor system for forest pestscontrol based on the Internet of Things was carried out.The star and cluster topology structure of ZigBee wireless sensor network were built.LabVIEW and GPRS wireless communication technology were adopted to reach and design thesoftware and hardware systems of intelligent sensor systems for forest pest control. Based on theresearch of the sensor nodes module and coordination module, ZigBee network nodes whichcollected ambient temperature, humidity and light intensity were designed. At the same timeGPRS module's circuit and PCB map were developed and welded. The design of the sensornodes, coordinator node and human-computer monitor software program were keys.Based on the wireless sensor network, connecting with the GSM network, SMS alarmfunction was realized. An efficient, remote and intelligent forecasting way for forest pest controlwas provided, which made users no longer be subjected to the limitation of the network nodestransmission distance. Finally, by testing the entire system's networking capability and human-computermonitoring ability, experiments show that: the wireless sensor network was successfullyorganized; and temperature, humidity and light intensity parameter could be accuratelytransmitted. The system had achieved monitoring and alarm functions in real time, and hadprovided a new solution for forest pest forecast and control.
