The cabin monitoring system is one of the most important constituents of Marine Engine Automation, which can control, monitor, display, record and alarm of the state of equipment operating in the cabin. Traditional monitoring systems exchange data in cable way. In these systems, the cost of track laying and network maintenance is very high because of the complexity of cabin environment. With the continuous development of wireless communication technology, the idea that applying wireless communication technology to the cabin monitoring system is proposed. According to this idea, this paper designs a cabin monitoring system based on ZigBee Pro. The system of this design realizes real-time monitoring of parameters of equipment in the cabin, which can alarm fault and store data without fault for future inquiry.The system imposes chip solution of MC13224 as ZigBee network node hardware system and ZigBee Pro protocol stack as software system. We estabish a moniter network based on the mesh network supported by ZigBee Pro standard. We firstly selected ZigBee Pro as the network communication standard according to the developing status and specific using environment of the cabin moniter system. Secondly, we analyzed the ZigBee protocol stack, data transmission adopted by the system and routing process. Then the basic function of the system and function of routing were verified after we finished the hardware and software design of the network nodes. Finally, we designed the terminal monitor software, realized the man-machine interface, data search and display, data processing and storage, alarm function etc of the monitoring terminal. Then we verified the whole system.This paper provides a feasible solution for data transmission of the cabin monitoring system using wireless conmunication. In addition, the system proposed in this paper, can be used in more complex environment of other industrial monitoring field combined with different sensors.
