Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) is composed of large number of sensor nodes which are deployed in monitoring region. It is forming a multi-hop and self-organized network system through wireless communication, the information of monitored area is cooperatively sensed, collected and processed. WSN can be widely applied in military defense, industrial and agricultural control, urban management, biomedical, environmental monitoring, disaster relief, remote control and so on.First, this paper introduced the research significance and current status, basic concepts, characteristic and architecture of Wireless Sensor Networks, made detail research of IEEE 802.15.4 protocol topology, frame structure, data transmission and protocol specification of PHY layer, MAC layer, NWK layer and APP layer. Second, according to the monitoring system needs in large-complex building, this paper gave the deep analysis, overall design and hardware design, proposed low-power design and EMC anti-jamming design. And then analyzed the principle of TI ZigBee2006 Z-Stack, including the process of coordinator to establish network, routers and end devices join in network. For the hardware development platform the paper introduced ZigBee software integrated development environment, and on the basis, programmed the temperature, humidity, light intensity and light control driver. At last, tested and analyzed the subject results, including transmit power testing, low-power testing and communication network testing, from the results can be seen that the system designed achieved desired expected requirements.
