As the rapid development of the semiconductor industry follows the Moore's Law, the embedded systems in intelligent control, consumer electronics products are widely used and becoming mature. But in the traditional field of welding, a number of special test equipments are not advanced as the consumer electronic. In order to solve the difficult problems in traditional welding area by the developed electronic technology, we decided to design a weld thermal cycle testing portable device based on ARM 9.We proposed the general planning of the weld thermal cycle testing portable device, including hardware general planning based on ARM9 and software general planning based on Linux.The core of the portable device hardware platform is the Samsung S3C2440. The hardware platform includes two parts, the core board and base board. There are 64M NAND Flash, 64M SDRAM and 2M NOR Flash on the core board. The base board including data sampling module, USB port, serial communication module, network module, SD card module, interface module and power supply systems. Each module of hardware design is completed and debugged.We coded the testing program, including sampling, LCD, touch panel and UART testing program. We customized and ported the Linux kernel and file system to the board and modified the drive of the hardware. What's more, we designed the interface by QT and then proposed methods of data processing. Finally, we proposed the idea of low-power design, sample filtering and data processing to improve the handle device.
