Forest resource plays a very important role in human production and life, along with scientific and technological progress and social development, the concept of "Digital forest" deriving from the concept of "Digital Earth" has higher requirements to forestry production and management. To achieve the digitization and improve the level and efficiency on the collection and management of forest resource, the research subject of the embedded information collection and management for forest resource was proposed based on embedded technology.According to the requirement of Xinpu district woodland in Lianyungang City, the data collection and management of forest resource were studied, the overall architecture of the embedded forest resource information system was established, and the function and work flow of the main modules for the system was described. Meanwhile, the embedded data acquisition subsystem and the forest resource information management subsystem in the embedded forest resource information system were researched and designed. In the part of forest resource information management subsystem, its specific structure and function modules were analyzed, WEBGIS service architecture was described, and forest resource data were classified and designed. In the part of the embedded data acquisition subsystem, according to function requirements of the system, OAMP3530 was selected based on advanced Cotex-A8 architecture as processing core, collecting GPS modules and WCDMA 3G communication module were realized to accomplish function of location and high-speed wireless communications. The program interface structure of this entire data acquisition subsystem was designed, the embedded Linux system Kernel running on the hardware was studied and designed, and the work of cutting and compiling was done according to the requirements. Focus on the data transmission according to the socket programming under the 3G wireless network, the system login authentication, GPS signal processing and position display were implemented. The entry and storage of forest resources survey data, and the data transmission of wireless networks were also implemented.The embedded forest resource information system, which applied embedded technology to data acquisition, integrated embedded devices'features of low-powered,multi-tasking and so on. It can raise the accuracy of data collection greatly, while also enhancing the efficiency of field operation and reducing the requisition difficulty of forest resource data. The standardized database was established by using SQLServer technology to reduce tedious data management degree. The data management server was built based on WEBGIS technology, which can provide a good data management and remote query functions. The forest health assessment index system was set up based on the method of Analytic Hierarchy Process, which can provide decision support for forest production. The entire system provides technical support and direction for forest resource management information, which corresponds to the requirements of the "Digital Forestry".
