Forest resource is the material basis of forestry production and forestry sustainabledevelopment. Mastering the basic status of forest resource provides effective basis for forestresource's scientific management. The development of the embedded technology,communication technology and GIS technology provides a new mode for data collection. Inorder to realize the forest resource data acquisition paperless, automatic, and improve indoorand field work efficiency, the research of embedded forest resource information collectionsystem based on OMAP has been carried out.Based on the introduction of research background and significance, the problems existingin domestic and abroad research were pointed out and the system requirements were analyzed.Integrating application of embedded technology with GIS,3G wireless communicationtechnology and GPS, the whole system structure was built, and seven function modules of thesystem were divided which included user login module, attribute data collection module, datastorage and query module, map operation module, GPS positioning and navigation module,temperature and humidity acquisition module and data transmission module.TakingOMAP3530with flexible architecture as the system core, the hardware development platformwas done combing with the temperature and humidity module, GPS module;3G wirelesscommunication module. On the built Qt/Embedded platform, the upper application programinterface was designed. Linux system and applications were successful transplanted, and a softkeyboard was provided. The basic GIS functions, such as a map to enlarge, narrow and locateof the marks were realized. Adopting GPS technology, real-time positioning, navigation andlatitude and longitude display functions were achieved. At the same time, the collected smallclass survey data and temperature and humidity data were saved; the data can be uploaded anddownloaded by using3G module from internet. Jiangsu province representative forest--Lianyungang Xinpu district forest was selected as an example of application to verify thetheoretical methods and the feasibility technologies of the system.Adopting embedded technology, the forest resource information collection system basedon OMAP combined the fast dual-core hardware OMAP3530with cross-platform softwareQt/Embedded4.5.3. Efficient hardware and software configuration greatly increased the speedof system development, data acquisition and processing. Stretching model from traditional towireless network ensured system's real-time characteristic. Low-power performance extendedthe life of the system. Embedded technology provided the technical support for thedevelopment of the forest resource information collection system.
