Chinese classical opera, ancient Greek tragicomedy and Indian classic Sanskrit have been known as the three main classical dramas in the world. Nowadays, the Greek tragicomedy and Indian classic Sanskrit have disappeared, however, Chinese classical opera have survived and also confront the crisis of communication. How to protect the developing classical opera have become our ineluctable research project. The appearance of television has grabbed the audience from the classical opera, while it has not only brought about the opportunities for improvement of television opera but also the premium media for its reunion with audience. Consequent on this phenomenon, the whole new art form has been born --- the Drama TV.Through more or less 50 year's development, the Drama TV has attained certain accomplishment in terms of communication mode or its effect. Lots of TV station from the CCTV to local one have set the classical opera channel, and the topics about the classical opera can be seen everywhere on TV with a variety of diversities. The experiences of success and lessons from the failure can also be gained from this. The practice of television opera has provided the samples for the research on its theoretical background, in the meantime, appealed more for its guidance.Taking the Drama TV as the research object, this thesis is divided into four parts: the first part has analyzed the essential reason for the crisis of the traditional opera based on the its current declining state. Through the analysis of the successful attempt of television classical opera Spring in the Pear Garden to promote the He'nan opera, this part has indicated the necessity of developing the TV opera; the second part has proved television opera's evolution from the"TV techniques"to TV art and formulated the basis for TV classical opera theory by applying the theories from Chinese Traditional Opera, Communication and Radio and Television Art; in the view of the popular television opera at present, the third part has made a classification of communication modes of the television traditional opera and furthermore summaries the aesthetic characteristics for each by drawing on the knowledge from the Typology of TV Program the third part with an eye on the difficulties for television opera development, by the virtue of the theories of the Regional Communication and TV Branding Management , has proposed the strategies for the localization and commoditization of the television with the view to better promote of television opera's development, guide its creation and enhance its competitive edge and transmitting effect; the forth part draws the conclusion.
