Design And Implementation Of Hongen IBB Learning Management System

LMS (Learning Management System) is a system designed for electronized teaching and training. It's a platform focusing on managing the teaching process and administrative affairs on the network.With the construction and promotion of the informationized infrastructures in higher vocational colleges in our country, the application of the Web-based teaching mode has become an important part in the digital campus construction. Online teaching breaks the time and space limitation of the traditional teaching methods. As long as the user has a computer with network, he or she can learn on LMS at any time. The increased enrollment of higher vocational colleges in recent years made the number of their students increased as well, but the number of the teachers and other teaching resources had less growth than that of the students. To solve this problem, and in order to improve the students' self-learning effect, this learning management system was developed.Hongen iBB Learning Management System is a new generation of platform for online learning, training and test, which is developed for higher vocational colleges, undergraduate universities and training institutions, based on the traditional education and the full realization of E-learning concept. "BB" is the abbreviation of the word "blackboard", and "i" is from "information" and "interactive". Therefore Hongen iBB Learning Management System is an informationized and interactive electronic blackboard.In this paper, the complete users'requirements were summed up through a careful analysis on the management, the teaching and learning processes of higher vocational colleges, based on the comprehensive study on domestic and overseas learning management systems; the key points and the difficulties of the system were proposed and the solutions were given, via the analysis and study of the whole system; the user's privilege management was promoted and the system's security was improved, through the detailed analysis on the users'roles and privilege; the system's implementation was illustrated after the analysis and explanation on its major functional module. Hongen iBB Learning Management System is a new software solution to the learning management system, which applied Java and used the Open Source frameworks such as Spring, Struts and Hibernate, and it is a Web application based on the B/S architecture.Hongen iBB Learning Management System has been deployed in more than ten higher vocational colleges, and at the meanwhile comments and suggestion from its users have been received successively. When developing the next version, efforts will be made to fix the known bugs, to improve the usability and to solve the performance issues when under big pressure.
