Wireless sensor network has been used to monitor the simple environment data such as temperature, humidity and light. However, these simple data monitoring couldn't satisfy people's requirements with the demand increase, people desperately hope the images and video will be introduced into the environmental monitoring based on wireless sensors network. And thus the fine environment monitoring can be performed. Therefore, wireless multimedia sensor network has become the research focus. A wireless multimedia sensor network system has been designed in this thesis,which can be used for image capture. This system is the foundation for many related environment monitoring applications.Firstly the related technologies of wireless multimedia sensor network have been analyzed in this thesis, then we designed wireless multimedia sensor network's image collection system taking both of the hardware perspective and the software perspective into account. The scheme includes whole system design, chips selection, hardware circuit realization, collection nodes control programs, data transmission and handling procedure, upper computer application software and distortion image restoration program. Then,the function of image collection system has been tested through experiments,and the results show that the image collection system of wireless multimedia sensor network is feasibility. Finally, the suitable algorithm for damaged image inpainting has been studied.
