Recently, with the rapid progress of network communication, distributed processing and database technology, networking and automation of office system become a reality. After joining WTO, China's enterprises face more severe challenges. How to change the management ideas, enrich service content and change service methods to improve the competitiveness, is the key for enterprises to survive in the new century. And construction and application of office automation system is one of the most important steps.This thesis describes the development of an office automation system for Baida Corporation. This system is B/S based, and developed with ASP.NET and SQL Server 2000. The goals of the system are to share office resources, work cooperatively, and improve the office efficiency. In this thesis, the background of this project is firstly introduced, followed by the basic concepts of office automation, its development history, and the state of the art; then common-used system architectures are introduced and compared, and B/S mode is chosen for our system; other related technologies are also presented, such as ASP.NET, programming languages, and DBMS. After that, the system analysis part describes the main business needs, gives the functional modules of the system, the system architecture, and database design; the system implementation part gives the detailed design and implement, including hardware and software platform, database access, webpage design style, and the design and implementation of main system modules. Finally, the system is tested with the real data. The testing and trial operation of this system indicate its effectiveness and efficiency, and that it can match the main needs of the company office.
