Given the rapid development of information technology and Internet, it hasbecome a trend for organizations to automate work through efficient informationmanagement network using latest management information systems and softwaredevelopment platforms. To satisfy the school’s need for office automation, and to findsolutions for the inefficiency and complications in the current system, this paperoffers the designing and implementation of a “Web-based Office Automation System”.The system employs the Web-based object-oriented technology and modular designmethodology, and applies the design philosophy and software engineeringmethodology of B/S three-tier structure. Aiming at the teaching, scientific researching,using of funds and personnel management of college teachers, the system offers aprompt and accurate tool for work summary and performance evaluation. Through theswitched network applications of the OA system, the system makes informationtransfer more expedite and precise.The system mainly employs SSH framework to develop an OA system based onB/S mode. SSH framework is a widely used open source framework for developingWeb application. The introduction of SSH framework efficiently improves the codereusability and development efficiency of application systems. The system has wentthrough a half-a-year preparation and a1-month testing, and has gone live for9months, processing an average of50M of document data per day. All18administrative staff in the school are equipped with USB security keys to secure theirlogin. Serving101teachers in the school, the system has implemented informatizationof college office automation system and has remarkably improved the efficiency ofcollege management.College office automation system is a new type of office mode in the informationsociety.
