Capacity Maturity Module Study Based On CMM/CMMI For Chinese Small And Medium Software Enterprises

Information industry has become the leading of country economic since 21st century. Software is the most important technology of information industry, and it is significant index to estimate the development of country. Software industry is a strategic industry, which is the core of China's information industry, and it is the foundation of economic and social informatization. It is the matter of information security, economic security, national security and military security, so the world pays lots of attention to develop software industry.There are 93% companies of Chinese software industry with less than 200 employees. So, if China wants to develop software industry, the country has to improve the development of small and medium software enterprises. Due to lack of money and IT talents, most small and medium software enterprises face up with process management, software engineered, low added value problems.There are CMM, CMMI, ISO modules to measure software company capacity. These modules could measure software companies'process capacity, find out the shortage of software quality control, which could push software companies to improve their process management and build up high quality products. But there are localization, index setting, and program clip problems during Chinese small and medium software enterprises use CMM, CMMI, ISO modules. So it is necessary to build up an easily implement, low cost, quantitative analysis module to meet Chinese small and medium software enterprises'request.Based on the requirement, this article build up a capacity maturity module based on CMM/CMM for Chinese small and medium software enterprises, which is low cost, quantitative analysis and accord with Chinese small and medium software enterprises' situation. The module is leaded by quality control theory, based on CMM/CMM 3rd level requirement, considering the strongpoint of former modules, and accord with Chinese small and medium software enterprises' situation. There are technology, management, support, organization and operation these 5 first level indexes,17 second level indexes and 36 third level indexes.This capacity maturity module based on CMM/CMM for Chinese small and medium software enterprises was used to measure 10 software companies in this article. There are 1 company got second level of the module,3 companys got third level and 6 companys got fourth level. According to the test result, the article provide different advices to improve different level's development. The module is validated to measure and coincident with Chinese small and medium software enterprises, the measure result is actual and effective, and could give useful advices to Chinese small and medium software enterprises.
