Since 1960's, with the rapid development of social economy and technology, many modern enterprises are established. Project constitutes the basic unit of business operations. The success or failure of the project even determines the enterprise's development speed and overall competency. With the project size and technical process complexity increasing, specialization becomes more sophisticated and investors become more and more demanding of the project quality, cycle time, investment returns. Therefore, the project organization and management has become the key to determine the project viability.Project management, as a new research direction of management theory, provides a powerful organization and management method of project implementation. It improves the methods of labor and resource planning, organization, execution and control. The modern project management application process also changes from the empirical tradition management styles to scientific styles. Modern project management includes wide range of contents:First, the modernization of management thinking. Second, the modernization of project management organization. Third, the modernization of management methods and tools.Considering the issue that new product development project can't achieve on time, on spec delivery within budget due to organizational chaos, unclear process, poor communication and outdated management methods, which is always encountered in the project management process of modern enterprise. This essay will introduce the development of an online project management system (e-NPI) through learning and research of the company new product development process, combined with practical experience in project management and took the methods of system requirements analysis, design verification, promotion and research application. The system separates the project life cycle by phases, tracks the key deliverables and tasks completion status with the examination and approval process at each phase gate review. Therefore, it greatly improves the efficiency of project implementation process, shorten the new product development cycle time and launches new products quickly to meet the business needs.
