As stated by former director of Vocational and Adult Education Department of Ministry of Education, Huang Yao, in 2008, Chinese specific experience and practice for combination between working and studying, school business cooperation and internship e which is gradually explored in development of vocation education, should be institutionalized and standardized so that there is college entrance examination in general education and there is skill competition in vocational education. It is necessary for vocational education to adapt to new situations in economic and social development. It is an important part of development of vocational education with Chinese characteristics. It is also a major system design and innovation for Chinese education development.Huang's statement put vocational skill competition in an important position at national policy level. It also opened a new chapter in vocational skill competition. National occupational skill competition for vocational schools and vocational colleges has been organized by Ministry of Education in association with other eleven ministries between 2008 and 2011. The competition place is settled in Tianjin permanently. Vocational skill contest has shined in the field of vocational education as a bright star since 2008. Brilliant achievements have been made in a short time. Although positive results have been achieved within a short period, there are many problems in skill competition, such as system construction, ideas and practice, due to short times. More and more questions have emerged with the competition in-depth, especially in provincial trials and school level competition. It not only affects the healthy development of vocational skill competition but also has brought some negative impact to vocational education. This dissertation is divided into seven chapters.Chapter One describes the significance of the research topic based on background analysis. Chapter Two gives the nature of vocational skills competition from the type of vocational skills, attributes and features. Chapter Three analyzes the vocational skills competition impact for vocational education from the relationship between vocational skills competition and vocational education teaching. Chapter Four explores the current status of vocational skills competitions through comparative analysis of relevant data of national vocational skills competition in the past four years. Chapter Five analyzes problems in vocational skills competition from national competition, provincial competition and school competition. Chapter Six studies why problems happen in vocational skills competitions from system construction, thinking and understanding. Chapter Seven makes constructive comments for vocational skills competition from the national policy level, the contest organizers and school level.
