Objective:To investigate the efficacy of distal point selection along the shaoyang meridian plus local point selection around the ear in treating excess fire tinnitus. To explore the distal-proximal point combination in the treatment of the clinical advantages of fire tinnitus.Methods:60 cases with excess fire tinnitus meeting the diagnostic criteria were chosen from 2nd ward and 2nd clinic of 2nd affiliated hospital of Heilongjiang TCM university. They were randomly allocated to distal-proximal point combination, peri-auricular local point selection and distal point selection groups,20 cases each. Point selection:Periauricle: Ermen, Tinggong, Tinghui. Wangu; distal point:Zhongzhu, Wanguan. Xiaxi. Taichong; distal-proximal point combination:Ermen, Tinggong, Tinghui, Wangu, Zhongzhu, Waiguan, Xiaxi,Taichong.14 days as a course and determine tinnitus scores and audiometry threshold after 2 courses. The therapeutic effects were compared among the three groups by SPSS 17.0.Results:1.Tinnitus levels were all reduced after treatment, but the distal-proximal point combination group was better than the other two.2. Comparison of clinical effective rate:distal-proximal point combination group 93.3%, peri-auricular local point selection 85.7%, distal point selection group 74.2%, with good improvement rate of 73.3%,46.4% and 22.6%. Distal-proximal point combination group was significantly better than the other two groups (P<0.05).3. Comparison of audiometry in hearing loss patients, threshold was reduced in all groups while distal-proximal point combination group was significantly better than the other two groups4. Comparison of relapse rate 3 months after treatment:distal-proximal point combination group 3.45%, peri-auricular local point selection 12.50%, distal point selection group 30.43%. Relapse rate in distal-proximal point combination group was significantly lower than in the other two groups (P<0.05).Conclusion:All 3 treatments were effective on fire tinnitus, while distal-proximal point combination group was better than the other two groups, peri-auricular local point selection was better than distal point selection group.
