Nurses are high vulnerability group for occupational burnout. In recent years, job burnout of the nurses are Gradually valued by scholars, but their results are not very consistent, and rarely among the maternity ward nurses. This study examines the current status of job burnout among a sample of 98 nurses at the maternity ward from five Nanjing-hospitals. and examines the different demographic variables, work stress, self-efficacy on the maternity ward of burnout among nurses, and on this basis Proposed countermeasures.Objective:To understand the delivery room nurses burnout and various demographic variables, work stress, self-efficacy and burnout relationship.Methods:98 nurses in five maternity ward at Nan Jing City has been sampled and surveyed through questionnaire on the mid of February,2011. The questionnaire contents include: individual basic status,the Maslach Burnout Inventory Human Service Survey (MBI-HSS)used widely in the home county,Li Xiaomei version of nurses job stress scale, self-Efficacy Scale (GSES).Results:1,There is a certain job burnout among delivery room nurses. The survey shows the delivery room nurse are highlighted in the loss of personal accomplishment dimension,55.1% of the delivery room nurses showed a high degree in the dimension; second is the dimensions of emotional exhaustion,31.6% showed a high degree of burnout of nurses in the maternity ward; the depersonalization dimension is relatively low, about 13.3% of the maternity ward nurses showed a high degree.2,The nurses of Aged 26 to 30 years old, contract, unmarried, not birth, primary titled, children (not in kindergarten, middle school, high school) is at higher burnout. Other socio-demographic factors had no effect on job burnout.3,Job stress affect the job burnout, The sense of general stress of job performance,emotional exhaustion, depersonalization was positively correlated, but the sense of general stress of job performance and low achievement k was negatively correlated The top 10 job stressors are: Regular shifts, low wages and other benefits, too much work, too few nurses to work, low status of nursing work, worried about an accidence at work, care patients sudden death, too much useless paperwork, promotion Opportunity too little, too critical care from doctors.4,The self-efficacy level of Delivery room nurses is moderate. Through correlation analysis showed that a sense of emotional exhaustion score is significantly negatively correlated with self-efficacy scores,the personal accomplishment score is significantly correlated with self-efficacy scores; the depersonalization scores is significantly negatively correlated with self-efficacy scores.5,In addition to management and interpersonal aspects pressure, other latitudes of working stressors are associated with self-efficacy, total working pressure and self-efficacy is significantly negatively correlated.6,Work stress and self-efficacy are important factors of job burnout.
