Using the general questionnaire, the revised job content questionnaire and job burnout questionnaire, and Center for Epidemiological Survey Depression Scale(CES-D). The data were analyzed with SPSS 13.0 by descriptive analysis and independent sample t test and anaylsis of variance, multiple factor linear regression and pearson correlation analysis and Logistic regression analysis and so on. The significant level(α) is 0.05 (two-sided).ResultsThere were high strain workers(60.4%) and low strain workers(39.6%) in 326 employees completing the job content questionnaire.336 employees completed job burnout questionnaire, Among the three dimensions of job burnout, the scores of emotional exhaustion were 29.28±5.89, the scores of depersonalization were 15.76±3.96, the scores of reduce personal accomplishment were 20.87±5.88, high emotional exhaustion, high depersonalization and high reduced personal accomplishment occupied 27.7%,23.6% and 26.5% respectively.64.8% of 321 employees filling out CES-D were positive depression. The monotonous work, the ability to ease job strain, workplace saftey conditions, monthly income, physical health conditions, work hours per day, education level, work intensity and post entered the multiple factor linear regression equation of job control, job demands, social support and the ratio of job demands and job control. The job control level was higher with safe workplace, or high ability to ease job strain, or higher monthly income, or good physical health, the job control was lower with monotonous work or shift workers. The job demands were higher with 10 to 12 work hours every day, or above undergraduate degree, or stronger work intensity, the social support of the staff in power department and equipment department was lower, the ratio of job demands and job control was higher with stronger work intensity, unsafe work conditions, or above undergraduate degree, or 8 to 10 work hours a day, or shift workers.Age, marital status, education level, physical health conditions, the ability to ease job stress, the attitude to job strain, workplace safety conditions, job intensity, the satisfaction level of work conditions, and post entered the the multiple factor linear regression equation of job burnout. The emotional exhaustion was higher with pessimistic attitude toward job strain, or strong work intensity, or unsatisfied with work conditions. The emotional exhaustion of the married was lower. The reduced personal accomplishment with pessimistic attitude toward job strain was higher, but personal accomplishment with good physical health was higher.Education level, the monotonous work, the attitude to job stress, the physical health condition, hobby and the ability to ease job stress entered the Logistic regression equation of depression. The good physical health and hobby were the protective factor of depression, the monotonous work, the pessimistic attitude toward job strain, poor physical health, or weak ability to ease job strain were the risk factors of depression.Job control negatively related to job burnout, job demands positively related to emotional exhaustion, social support negatively related to job burnout. Job control negatively related to depression. Social support was protective factor of depression. Job burnout positively related to depression.ConclusionsThe power company staff's work intensity was strong, their work hours were long, and their job was mostly monotonous, their job stress, job burnout and depression were higher. There were invidual and occupational factors which inflenced job stress and job burnout. Besides the invidual and occupational factors, there were behavioral and social factors which inflenced depression. Job strain related to job burnout and depression. The enterprise should emphasize the staff's mental health, adopt comprehensive measures to carry out mental health education, and introduce employee assistance program, and improve the ability and skills to deal with job stress, and promote staff mental health, reduce the levels of job strain, job burnout and depression, and promote the long and effective development of enterprise.
