Situation And Development Trend Of China's Agricultural Extension Study

The thesis expatiates the definition, characters and functions of agricultural extension. Through comparison with Chinese and foreign agri-extension models, it analyses the characteristics of the present agri-extension system and points out such malpractices as strong administrative tendency, bad market orientation, parallel operation between scientific research institutions and extension institutions, shortage of extension fees, inappropriate distribution of resources, segmentation of industries, multi-departmental management, absence of high quality technical extension personnel and inadaptation for market economy requirements. In the meantime, drawing the reform experience in the past years and based on China's situations, it puts forward practical thinkings and suggestions, namely, to adhere to the state extension institutions as the main body, to increase the gross of agri-extension investment, to develop vigorously cooperative extension, to set up input mechanism financing by many ways, to perfect agri-extension and service systems, to foster active users system, to support farmers' technical association and to establish state-level institutions of agri-extension and coordination.
