Safety Of Wireless Video Surveillance System Research And Design

Video surveillance technology synthetically utilizes modern image processing, computer network, automation and artificial intelligence and other high technology to achieve a real-time live video scenes reproduction, data storage, automatic alarm by detecting, and other functions. It is widely used in security, unmanned duties, information collection, command and control occasions. Video surveillance system based on WLAN (wireless local network) is the novel system combining state of the art wireless communication and information processing techniques, the cost for network cabling is greatly reduced using the wireless microwave, and the complexity and scalability are deeply enhanced.A video surveillance system based on WLAN is designed and implemented based on thorough analysis of video surveillance system and WLAN. Due to the openness of wireless channel, safety potential is probably existed. So this paper emphasizes the security aspect of the system.The WLAN security comprise of two parts: the authentication protocol and encryption methods. The port control based on 802.1X and digital certificate is discussed, which address how the users access the network. WEP in 802.11 is also discussed and the flaws in it are pointed out. At last the higher strength CCMP is analyzed, together with its core algorithm AES, the security in WLAN is greatly improved using it.A wireless video surveillance system is designed based on the above theory. IEEE 802.11g wireless local area network standards is used and the video encoding is MPEG4. The authentication protocol based on 802.1X and digital certificate is adopted, with encryption scheme of WEB or CCMP. The security of wireless network is greatly improved. This system can cope with wireline video surveillance system seamlessly, and the administrator can watch one scene or four scenes simultaneously. Experiments show the video is clear and smooth after encryption and decryption.
