According to the concrete demand of short distance moving video monitor industry, this thesis introduces a kind of embedded moving video monitoring system. Compared to the traditional multimedia monitoring system, this plan has the following advantages: smaller volume, lower cost, higher stability, better timeliness, less weight, more portable and more practicable, so that it can be widely applied in safety monitoring system, video conference, long-distance synchronized teaching. In all, the development of such system has the extremely high social and economic benefits.This article carries out an embedded moving monitoring system based on the wireless local area network and the H.264 video compression algorithm. After the comparison, the system, which selects the H.264 video compression algorithm, has the highest compression ratio of the video data processing, the best visual image, the better network compatibility. The system realizes its video data gathering, compression and the transmission in Windows XP platform. And it receives video image and decompresses it through the wireless way.This article elaborates the design and realization of this system. At first, the author introduces the Sitsang development board which takes wireless network card and the PXA255 processor as its core. And then the author sets up the smallest hardware system which is able to get access to the IP network wirelessly. Then, two transplants based on ARM platform are introduced: the one is Redboot transplant, the other is embedded Linux transplant. Meanwhile the author introduces the transplant which is actuated by the wireless network card, Qt/Embedded and the Qtopia transplant process and programming of the Qtopia application procedure. Comparing the performance of several source coders and decoders, we choose the appropriate coder and decoder, and transplant and seal it. So we can realize the video gathering, the code and the transmission. At the same time we realize the organization of data storage buffer, on embedded system the reception, decoding and demonstration as well as the transmission strategy of visual image on the embedded system. In order to adapt to the instability of the wireless network wide band, this system plan a method to restrict the states of communication sockets and used correlative application protocols to promote the stability and flexibility of the system, which ensures efficiently and reliably transmission of the data. In this way, we can enhance the system's stability and the flexibility, and guarantee that the data can be transmitted reliably and effectively.At last, the thesis made a test on this system and made a conclusion to evaluate it. It is proved that this system can be stably performed and more flexible than the traditional wired and the central monitoring. It is hoped that this H.264 standard WLAN based embedded moving video has perfect market prospect.
