Digital signal processing is the use of a computer or dedicated processing device, to deal with the acquisition, transformation, filtering, valuation, enhancement, compression and recognition of signal in the digital form, and finally get the signal meeting people's requirements. The DSP system is based on digital signal processing technology, specifically designed for compute-intensive system. With DSP technology development, DSP systems are widely used in digital signal processing technology fields, such as mobile communications, medical equipment, electric equipment and aerospace.With development of the DSP system, we urgent need a comprehensive testing and analysis of DSP hardware when developing and producing a DSP system to ensure the systems software applications, hardware compatibility, reliability and high availability, to detect and accurate the position of system hardware problem rapidly.After the design of ADSP-BF538 board, this paper did a comprehensive hardware test to this hardware board, include the serial port, SDRAM chip, FLASH chip, TIMER, USB interface chip and Ethernet controller. This paper also designs a serial frame communication protocol to build a reliable communication between PC and DSP development board. Finally, we design and implement a platform for the ADSP-BF538 development board hardware testing. Through the PC and the ADSP-BF538 development board's serial communication we can achieve a visual test of the development board.
