Chinese chess has a long history in China and it became extremely popular chess activities due to its simple equipment and high interesting. Under the leadership of high-tech, many scientists have made significant achievements in the field of computer chess game and chess robot in recent years. The competition between the robots and the chess masters has attracted the attention of people. With the rapid development of computer chess game, Chinese chess board needed to move closer to the technology and electronic direction. The RFID technology is applied to intelligent chess board in this design and it provides a reliable piece detection method.This paper expounds a kind of intelligent board based on radio frequency identification technology. First we summarize the development of radio frequency identification, and then analyze the structure, classification and working principle of RFID system. After thorough understanding and learning the chip--- FM1702SL, which is based on the ISO14443 standard, and the non-contact RF IC card, we apply RFID technology to the Chinese chess board system. This paper mainly introduces the system components of smart board. Then it tells the design of hardware circuit and software programming. Emphatically expounds the selection of chess board recognition system, the underlying read card unit circuit design, multiple-antenna’s design, read and write card programs and interlayers under control unit and a machine multiple serial communication. Finally, we points out the shortages of the smart board.Through continuous experiment and improvement, eventually the system can realize the functions of record and playback in the process of Chinese chess. This system can be synchronized with the process of playing chess and identify the location of the pawn on the chessboard in real time. Also it can discover error of chess’s position.
